Robert Clothier, a paedophile drag queen arranged to meet father to have sex with his children, 8 and 11, but was caught by police who set up sting operation

  • Robert Clothier set up sexual liaison with ‘Mark’ and his children online
  • Police were waiting for him at Wimbledon station and arrested him
  • Officers found glow-in-the-dark condoms, Easter eggs and toys on him
  • Clothier, who also goes by the name Lady James, was jailed for 26 months
  • Drag Queen made joke about being a sex offender at Brighton Pride festival
  • ‘I’m sweating like a paedophile in Mothercare’, he told the crowd

A paedophile drag queen who arranged to have sex with a father and his two young children has been jailed today.

Robert Clothier, 37, who also goes by the name Lady James, turned up for a liaison with ‘Mark’ and his eight and 11-year-olds, but it was a police sting.

Clothier was arrested at Wimbledon train station in south-west London with a box of chocolate flavoured glow-in-the-dark condoms and pink children’s underwear from Primark.

He also had an Easter egg for each child, heart-shaped hairbands and a Lego toy, Southwark Crown Court heard.

MailOnline can also be revealed the entertainer, who is based in Brighton, was filmed at the 2011 Pride Festival making jokes about being a sex offender.

‘I’m sweating like a paedophile in Mothercare it’s so hot in here’, he told the crowd during his drag gig.

Today the court heard in a series of online chats last March, Clothier confessed to having ‘naughty thoughts’ about his own nieces and nephews, but had never acted upon them as he did not want to ‘hurt his family’.

He said he was ‘turned on’ while purchasing the pink underwear and had chosen a particular set because it was ‘sexy’.

When he was caught he said he had stocked up on condoms as it was ‘best to be prepared’.

He described being constantly aroused while thinking about the children and how he was excited and honoured to meet them, adding that, if everything went well, it would not be ‘just a one off’, prosecutor Mervyn Burton told the court.

Following Clothier’s arrest police raided his Brighton home and found a string of child porn images, including 18 cartoon images of fathers abusing their sons.

Sentencing Clothier to a total of 26 months in prison, Judge Deborah Taylor said: ‘It’s clear from the chat room logs that you were expressing an interest to engage in sexual activity with the children.

‘You arranged to meet Mark, having said you bring protection, including condoms which were chocolate flavoured and glowed in the dark.

‘You also bought underwear for the daughter, who you believed to be 11, and other presents to make yourself more acceptable to the children.

‘I take into account that you are of previous good character and all the indications are you have not involved yourself in previous offences of this kind.

‘But these are serious offences and ones which the courts take very seriously indeed.’

Gareth Morgan, defending Clothier, said he had a ‘troubled background’ which led to him developing an interest in ‘liaisons with what he considers father figures’.

‘He has been candid from the outset and fully accepts his guilt.

‘His intentions lay towards ‘Mark’ and had he been faced with the children he very much doubts he would have done anything with them.

‘He has never been before the courts before and has led a blameless life to date.’

Clothier has also been involved in charity work for the Brighton Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual (LGBT) Pride association.

He admitted arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, making indecent images of children, distributing images of children and possessing prohibited images of children.

Judge Taylor also order that Clothier’s computer and the indecent images should be forfeited and destroyed.

He will also be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order restricting his access to children under 16 and internet use and must also sign the Sex Offenders’ Register.

Nigel Sturman Paedophile

Nigel Sturman, a disgraced former leader of groups which met at the Forum and Battlenet in Norwich has been jailed for six years after he was convicted of sexually abusing teenage girls.

Nigel Sturman, 27, who was head of the Society of Anime and Manga, which met at the Forum, and also ran a Dungeons and Dragons group which met at Battlenet, in the city, was found guilty of four counts of sexual activity with teenage victims following his trial in May.

Norwich Crown Court heard that three of the victims were under 16 when the sex abuse took place. He was cleared of two further charges of sexual activity against one of the girls.

The court heard in impact statements which were handed in to the court that all his victims had been deeply affected by the abuse and one of the victims suffered nightmares.

Sturman, of Church Road, Aslacton, who continues to deny the charges, appeared for sentence yesterday and was jailed for six years.

He was also made subject to a sexual offences prevention order which bans him from having unsupervised contact with anyone under 16 and also is on the sex offender’s register.

Sentencing him, Judge Nicholas Coleman told him that it must be “hurtful” for his victims that he continued to deny his guilt and said: “In my judgment you are manifestly guilty of these offences.”

He said that a report said that Sturman posed “high risk” of harm to young people and said: “It is quite clear from all the facts in this case you were targeting young girls.”

Judge Coleman added: “You knew exactly how old they were and how vulnerable they were.”

He said it was clear from the impact statements that his behaviour had deeply impacted the victims and said he had “ruined the lives” for a time for some of them.

However, he accepted that Sturman would find his time in prison difficult and that he had not used any threats or force on the victims.

“Any sentence of imprisonment is going to be particularly harsh.”

Lori Tucker, for Sturman, said: “There is very little I can say as he continues to deny the offences.”

She said Sturman was of previous good character and since his conviction he had sought help from his GP and was taking sleeping tablets.

Andrew Mouat sexual predator lured his child victims by organising fake fancy dress parties

Andrew Mouat was sentenced to ten years in prison at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday.

The judge, Lord Burns, described his crimes as an “appalling campaign of offending”.

The 41-year-old began sexually abusing girls when he was 12 and continued for more than 20 years. Some of the crimes took place after he organised fake fancy dress competitions which culminated in his victims being sexually assaulted.

Mouat, of Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway, was convicted on ten charges in July including rape and indecent assault. His QC said Mouat, who is deaf, continued to deny the abuse.

Lord Burns told Mouat: “There was very substantial evidence against you in what was an appalling campaign of offending. As is pointed, you abused your victims – who were vulnerable – and misused your power to exploit them to meet your own sexual needs.”

Mouat, who is considered to be at high risk of re-offending, will be monitored for a further eight years on his release.

A jury previously heard how the offences dated back to 1983. The rape victim was aged between eight and ten when he forced himself on her on a date between September 2005 and July 2007. He had previously got into bed with the girl when she was only six and attempted to induce her to carry out a sex act.

Another girl was three when the abuse began, a further female victim was six and the last was ten when she was first preyed upon. Mouat also induced a young boy to perform a sex act.

The court heard how some of the abuse occurred after Mouat arranged fake fancy dress parties.

Prosecutor Alan MacKay said: “He would offer the winner the somewhat dubious prize of going to bed with him.”

Murray Macara QC, defending, told the court that Mouat maintains his innocence. Mr Macara added: “He denies these individuals are victims at all.”

Child rapist organised fake fancy dress contests to lure victims

A man who organised fake fancy dress competitions to lure under-aged girls into bed has been found guilty of a catalogue of offences stretching back 30 years.

Some of Andrew Mouat’s victims were as young as three, the High Court in Edinburgh was told.

Mouat, 41, was found guilty on ten charges of indecency, indecent assault and rape in Castle Douglas, Dumfriesshire, including the rape of a girl aged between eight and ten.

The rape victim, who gave evidence by CCTV link, said Mouat forced himself on her on an occasion between September 2005 and July 2007. He had previously tried to force her to perform a sex act on him when she was six years old.

Three other women and a boy gave evidence against Mouat, who began abusing girls when he was 12 years old.

He took advantage of his victims while their parents were out at work, instructing them not to tell anyone.

The charges alleged that he would lick and touch the feet of the youngsters. Advocate-depute Alan Mackay, prosecuting, told the jury it was “done for some sexual gratification”.

Mr Mackay said some of his offences happened after he organised bogus fancy dress competitions. “He would offer the winner the somewhat dubious prize of going to bed with him,” the prosecutor said.

Mouat, of Donald Court, Castle Douglas, denied the charges against him and claimed his accusers were lying.

Judge Lord Burns remanded him in custody after the jury found him guilty and ordered background reports before passing sentence.

Peter Widdowson Paedophile’s terrified victim ‘wanted to die’

Peter Widdowson, a paedophile was jailed for nine years and told by a judge that his victim’s life had been blighted.

Six years of abuse only ended when she was in her mid-teens, leaving her suicidal and feeling helpless, a court heard.

Judge Andrew Hamilton told 65-year-old Peter Widdowson: ”She has been robbed of her childhood. I am afraid there is nothing I can do to give that back.

”It was a most awful experience – there was nothing she could do to avoid it. Nobody can blame her whatsoever. She must feel no guilt whatsoever.”

Widdowson, of Brookside, Belper, admitted six charges of sexual abuse ending in 1992.

He was put on the Sex Offenders’ Register and banned from unsupervised contact with any girl under 16.

Gareth Gimson, prosecuting, said in a statement, the victim said: “I can remember saying ‘stop it’ but he kept going.

”He just ignored me when I said ‘stop it.’

“I just could not escape him.”

Mr Gimson told Nottingham Crown Court the victim was left feeling suicidal and described ”several times she wanted to die”.

He said: ”Her childhood was stolen from her. It scarred other relationships.

”She was feeling violated, terrified and terribly disempowered. He was initially trying to make it some sort of game.”

Gurdial Singh, for Widdowson, said he was not involved in religion at the time of the offences but told the judge: ”In 2000, he found God.

”He is now a religious man. He accepts he is going to go into custody and has come here with a bag today.

“He stands by his faith which has enabled him to come to terms with his criminality.

”He entered prompt guilty pleas at the first opportunity. He entered those pleas and avoided any trial.

”He is someone who is well thought of. He knows he is going to be punished,” added Mr Singh.

Widdowson had no previous convictions.

Detective Constable Emily Town, who investigated the case, said: ”I praise the bravery of the victim for finding the courage to come forward.

“I hope the sentence will allow her to put this behind her and move forward with her life.

”Being sent to prison reflects the severity of the crime. Derbyshire police always take reports of sexual abuse very seriously and offences like this, which were committed many years ago, will be investigated thoroughly,” she added.

During the hearing, the judge said Widdowson had to be sentenced under old laws because of the dates of the offences. It meant a ten-year term was the maximum.

But now the normal range of prison terms was between 11 and 17 years.

The judge added: ”It indicates the serious nature Parliament takes of people who commit this type of offence.”

Robert Ryan paedophile: Surprise surprise, lenient sentence for a police officer!

Robert Ryan, a former MET officer jailed for child-related sex offences.  The former police officer has been jailed for two years after he admitted a string of child-related sex offences.

Robert Ryan, of Great Northern Street, Huntingdon, was charged with two counts of making or possessing indecent images of children, two counts of attempting to cause a child to engage in sexual activity and attempting to arrange a child sex offence.

The 48-year-old, who appeared at Peterborough Crown Court for sentencing on Wednesday (July 31), had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing.

Prosecuting, Andrew Howarth said Ryan, a father-of-two, had been a detective sergeant with the Metropolitan Police and his duties, although not linked to the charges, had included supervision of registered sex offenders.

He was arrested at home in Huntingdon in December 2010 after a 17-year-old girl, who he had met online, contacted police.

The pair had a sadomasochistic sexual relationship and engaged in ‘age play’, when he pretended she was a little girl, said Mr Howarth, but she became concerned.

“The defendant asked her whether she could find him a 15-year-old girl for sexual purposes,” Mr Howarth addded. “Such was her concern that she reported it to police.”

Officers seized two laptops and found a number of indecent images of girls, believed to be under 16.

Further examination of the computers revealed Ryan had been on internet chatroom sites in 2006 asking others for images of young girls.

Another log from the same year showed a girl, known only as Katie, asking: “Are you ok with me being 14?” He replied: “Yes.”

The court heard that explicit conversation followed, while web cams were in use. Mr Howarth added: “He asked whether he could meet Katie, the suggestion being they would meet for sex.”

For Ryan, Felicia Davy said he had shown genuine remorse and a willingness to seek help to rehabilitate himself. Having recognised he was addicted to pornography, he had been referred to a clinic by his GP, she said.

Significant matters that affected his childhood continued to affect him psychologically and emotionally, she added, and he had been dismissed from the Met and was in debt.

Sentencing, Judge Nic Madge said: “Making or possessing indecent images is a serious offence which involves the corruption, degradation and infliction of pain on real children.

“Lives are wrecked as a result. You must be aware of that given your work as a police officer.

“Sexual abuse of the girls whose photos appear on the internet would not have happened if it were not for people like you prepared to watch such images. It is not putting it too high to say you are indirectly responsible for their sexual abuse.”

He also condemned Ryan for being “directly responsible for the abuse and ongoing corruption of a girl who you believed to be aged 14”.

Ryan was sentenced to a total of two years in prison and made the subject of a five-year sexual offences prevention order.

Roger Panesar Paedophile jailed after having sex with young girl he claimed ‘came on to him’

Roger Panesar, a middle-aged man who claimed a teenage girl had given him the “come on” and instigated sex has been jailed for four years.

Father-of-two Roger Panesar told police following his arrest the youngster was sexually active and would arouse him.

Maidstone Crown Court heard the girl herself told police she “went along with it” because she thought it was “normal” and enjoyed it.

But Judge Charles Macdonald QC said the law was in place to protect young victims who consented to inappropriate relationships.

“There is but one thin point (of mitigation) and that is she did not ultimately withhold any consent,” he remarked.

“But the law is there to protect young girls who make that decision and so it is hardly any mitigation at all.”

Panesar, of The Parade, Northwood Drive, Sittingbourne, admitted four offences of sexual activity with a child between December 2010 and March 2011.

Prosecutor Gary Pons said the girl resisted the 41-year-old at first and told him she was not interested when he tried to kiss and hug her.

However, the court was told she said nothing when, on another occasion, he started to kiss her.

“He took off her clothes and, in her words, she just went along with it,” added Mr Pons.

The girl told police sexual activity took place between them on at least 10 occasions.

In her interview with officers, she said: “I thought it was normal. I enjoyed it so I went along with it.”

Panesar admitted at the time of his arrest he had had sexual intercourse with the teenager, but added: “She came on to me.

The prosecutor added: “He said that she had instigated the sex. He said she was sexually active and would arouse him.

“He said it was a secret between the two of them, but denied making any threats.”

The court was told the girl had alleged that Panesar threatened to “punch the living daylights out of her” if she ever told anyone what was going on.

Tom Stern, defending, said Panesar also disputed the number of times he had had sex with the girl, but added he could “offer little” that would explain his offending.

“It was ostensibly consensual conduct… but there was a gross failure of judgement on his part.”

As part of his sentence, Panesar must sign the sex offenders’ register indefinitely. He was also made subject to a sexual offences prevention order which includes a ban on unsupervised contact with children under 16.

David Broom Paedophile jailed for 14-year ‘campaign of abuse’ against vulnerable children

David Broom has been jailed for 16 years after being found guilty of a campaign of sex assaults against three different victims.

David Broom, 64, of Cross Blanche Street, Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil denied 25 counts consisting of 16 for indecent assault, eight for rape and one of attempted indecent assault over a 14-year period.

They took place between March 19, 1974 and August 30, 1988 against three girls, who cannot be named for legal reasons and came to light at the end of next year.

But he was found unanimously guilty in a matter of hours of each count, many of which were sample counts representing a course of conduct over a period of time.

The jury had heard that Broom targeted two of the girls and that the third victim had been indecently assaulted just once by mistake.

The Recorder of Cardiff Judge Eleri Rees told him: “This was a campaign of abuse against two vulnerable children.

“You robbed them of their innocence and childhood.

“You left indelible memories that have haunted them into adulthood. The abuse ruined their lives.

“There has been a delay. Much was due to the fear and shame felt by the complainants instilled in them by you.”

Elizabeth Pearson, prosecuting at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court, said one of the victims had suffered difficulties and had sought medical and psychiatric help as a result of the abuse.

“She described how the abuse has totally destroyed her life.”

Ms Pearson said: “He [Broom] was a controlling and aggressive man who used threats to ensure their silence.”

She told the court he started to abuse one of his victims when she was just five years old.

She said Broom would take her out in the car to a remote location, but while there would indecently assault her.

“She never told anybody what happened to her as a child. She bottled it up,” said Ms Pearson.

Ms Pearson told the court Broom had also tried to abuse the girl, now married and a mother, not long after she had given birth.

The jury of four men and eight women was told that Broom had managed to keep her quiet about the abuse by threatening her.

“He would blackmail her that she would lose her child because he would go to social services and say that she was an unfit mother,” said Ms Pearson.

Giving evidence, one of the victims broke down in tears as she recounted how scared she was at the time, telling the jury she had known Broom to be nasty and violent.

The court heard some of the abuse of the two victims overlapped, with the second victim enduring more rapes.

Dyfed Thomas, defending, said Broom was not in good health and added that the abuse had ended some 20 years ago.

Broom will have to sign as a sex offender for life and will be released after serving two-thirds of the sentence, unless considered for release after serving half.

John Benney ‘Depraved’ rapist branded ‘a risk to any female’ is jailed indefinitely

John Benney, a deraved Llanelli man with a “complete inability” to control his sexual desires has been sent to prison indefinitely for raping a young girl.

John Rundle Benney was sentenced yesterday at Swansea Crown Court — just over a year after being jailed at the same court for the rape of a woman.

Judge Paul Thomas QC said Benney, aged 58, of Grant Street, was a dangerous offender who posed a “future risk to any female of any age”.

Kevin Jones, prosecuting, told the court that Benney was jailed for two years in December 2009 after pleading guilty to raping a woman.

Later, detectives found that Benney had also raped a young girl — and he admitted this sex attack during a further court appearance last year.

Sentencing, Judge Thomas said reports prepared by probation officers and a psychiatrist showed that the defendant was a man with “distorted and depraved thinking” and an “unnaturally and dangerously high” sex drive.

“You have shown a complete inability to control your sexual desires,” the judge told him.

There was a significant risk, added the judge, that Benney would commit further serious offences in the future and cause serious harm to the public.

As a result, the only appropriate disposal was a term of imprisonment for public protection — a sentence intended to keep him “out of the way” for many years.

Judge Thomas ruled that Benney would have to spend a minimum of six years behind bars before becoming eligible to apply to the Parole Board for release on licence.

“Only when the Parole Board is satisfied that you need no longer be confined in custody for the protection of the public will it be able to direct your release,” he told the defendant.

“You are going to be in prison for a long time and when you come out — if you come out — you will be subject to stringent licensing conditions.”

The judge also directed that Benney must be registered for life as a sex offender.

The original sentence imposed on Benney in December 2009 was a term of four years, but for legal reasons this was later reduced by the Court of Appeal to one of two years

Bicester sex assaults burglar Ashley Blossom jailed

A burglar who sexually assaulted a woman and a girl as they slept has been jailed for two years.

Ashley Blossom carried out the assaults during raids on two houses on the Southwold estate in Bicester in April.

Oxford Crown Court heard he touched the breasts of his victims, aged 16 and 55, over their clothes and stole items worth more than £600, including a laptop.

Blossom, 27, admitted two counts of burglary and sexual assault in June.

The court heard Blossom. of Lime Crescent, Bicester, had been drinking heavily in the hours leading up to the burglaries in the early hours of 6 April.

A letter written by him was read out in court, in which he pleaded for forgiveness for crimes that he “could not explain” and which he claimed were “out of character”.

He was arrested after his housemate at the time, Bethany Green, tried to sell a number of the stolen items at a branch of Cash Converters, the court was told.

Green, 21, of no fixed address, admitted receiving stolen goods.

She was sentenced on 24 July at the same court to a 12-month community order with supervision and ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge.

Blossom, who was ordered to sign the sexual offenders register for 10 years and pay a £100 victim surcharge, has already served the equivalent of eight months on remand, which will count towards his sentence.

He is expected to serve the last six months on licence.

Andrew Fyles, a Dancing On Ice coach has been convicted of making indecent images of children.

Andrew Fyles trained stars behind the scenes on the series that featured model Melinda Messenger and actress Gemma Bissix.

But ITV said the instructor will not be involved with the show again after cops found a stash of 1,030 indecent photos of children on his home computer.

Some images were rated grade four, which includes sex between children and adults.

Fyles, 39, was convicted of six counts of making indecent images of a child last month.

South West Surrey JPs handed Fyles, of Guildford, a three-year sexual offences prevention order.

The pervert, who also coached kids as young as two at a local leisure centre, was banned from working with kids and put on the Sex Offenders Register.

An ITV spokesman said Fyles has had no link with the show since at least 2008. A TV insider said: “He was a friend to contestants. A lot were parents and they’re disgusted.” Fyles refused to comment.

Muhammed Waqas, a paedophile who groomed his 14-year-old victim with burgers and cigarettes has been locked up for more than three years.

Muhammed Waqas (23) made hundreds of phone calls and text messages to the young girl in Peterborough, before persuading her to have sex in the back of a car in Dogsthorpe.

On Wednesday Waqas was jailed for three years and nine months, and told he would be deported after completing the sentence.

Waqas initially denied sexual activity with a child, but pleaded guilty, and was sentenced by Judge Nic Madge at Peterborough Crown Court.

Sentencing, Judge Madge said: “Everyone knows that the age of consent in this country is 16.

“There is considerable public concern about older men who groom vulnerable girls in their early teens and have sex with them.

“Rightly so.

“That is why men who have sex with 13, 14 and 15 year old girls must expect to go to prison. In this court we treat such offences very seriously.”

The court heard Waqas, of Small Heath, Birmingham, arranged to meet two 14 year old girls in February.

He took them to a McDonald’s, bought them burgers and gave them cigarettes. He then ‘bombarded’ them with phone calls – 357 to his victim, and 46 to her friend.

In March, while visiting friends in Peterborough he agreed to meet this victim and another girl.

Again, you took them to McDonald’s and gave them cigarettes, before taking the girls to Dogsthorpe, where he had sex with one of them.

The girl’s friend was sat in the front of the car at the time, listening to music through headphones.

A victim impact statement was read out to the court, with the girl saying she still has sleepless nights as a result of the incident.

Rajinder Gill, defending, said the defendant was ‘immature’ for his age, and his father was seriously ill in his native Pakistan. He added Waqas had no previous convictions.

Detective Inspector Simon Harding said: “Waqas groomed his victim by sending her texts then arranging to meet.

“He was fully aware she was only 14 but still had sex with her, while her friend was also in the car. Waqas preyed on her vulnerability to satisfy his own desires. Such behaviour is not acceptable, the victim showed great courage to come forward to police and we are pleased he has now been brought to justice.”

Samuel Bradley Paedophile Teaching assistant jailed for child sex offences

Samuel Bradley, a teaching assistant who texted indecent images of himself to a girl pupil at a South Yorkshire school and then started a sexual relationship with her has been jailed for three years.

Samuel Bradley, 23, of Marbeck Close, Dinnington was jailed for 36 months at Sheffield Crown Court last week.

He had pleaded guilty to the sexual grooming of a child, sexual activity with a child whilst in a position of trust and possession of indecent images of children at an earlier hearing.

He chatted up one victim on Facebook, then swapped naked images of himself – some sent under the desk in class. The pair met for secret trysts away from the Rotherham school premises and had a ‘consensual’ sexual relationship.

But Bradley also admitted sending indecent pictures of himself to two other teenage girls.

The offences were committed against more than one girl whilst he was working as a teaching assistant at a school in Rotherham during 2011 and 2012.

He was placed on the sex offenders register for life and was also given a sex offender prevention order, which prevents him working with children in the future.

Detective Constable Gareth Gent said: “The police worked closely with the school, the education authority and children and young people’s service to identify the crimes and support the victims.”

“Everyone involved has worked very hard to bring Bradley to justice and we will continue to track down and prosecute anyone who continues to commit crimes against children here in Rotherham.”

Detective Inspector Mark Monteiro, public protection lead at Rotherham said:”This is a clear case of child sexual exploitation and a teaching assistant abusing his position of trust. South Yorkshire Police will vigorously pursue those exploiting any children.”

Malcolm McLennan Evil paedophile former Catholic priest spared jail for molesting altar boy

Anger as evil former Malcolm McLennan, a Catholic priest spared jail for molesting altar boy at St Simon Stock Church in Walderslade

A former Catholic priest who molested an altar boy at a Medway church more than 20 years ago has today avoided a jail sentence.

Malcolm McLennan admitted molesting the boy, who is now in his late-30s, when he appeared before Medway magistrates last month.

The 69-year-old was handed a three-year community order at Maidstone Crown Court today.

After the sentence, the victim said: “I am devastated. Justice has not been served.”

McLennan admitted indecent assault over the acts he committed while an assistant priest at St Simon Stock Church, in Bleakwood Road, Walderslade, back in 1989.

The court heard how McLennan would rub himself up against the victim or give him a cuddle when the boy was changing into his robes while helping at services.

One day, he put his hands down the youngster’s underpants and started to touch him.

He reported the matter and was visited by a bishop the following week, who dismissed his allegations by saying: “We’ll have no more of your silly talk.”

After reporting the incident to police in the wake of the Jimmy Saville scandal, the victim learned McLennan had previously indecently assaulted three church boys – with the youngest believed to be five – while working in Tunbridge Wells in the mid-1980s.

The court heard how in 2009 he was jailed for 18 months and placed on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years for these offences

The court also heard he had convictions for gross indecency dating back to 1973, 1977 and 1989 involving offences in public toilets with men, but has since turned his life around.

The former alcoholic began to change when he started attending Alcohol Anonymous meetings, the court heard.

Andrew Espley, defending, said McLennan now works as an infirmary assistant looking after ill monks at an Abbey in Gloucestershire, where he has no contact with children.

But his abuse has left a mark on his victim. He is said to have lost his faith and he refuses to let his children play outdoors out of fear.

Speaking exclusively last month, the victim said he wanted the “predatory sex offender jailed”.

McLennan – now of Teal Close, Quedgeley, in Gloucester - was instead sentenced to a 36-month community order, with supervision, and a requirement of attending a sex offender programme.

Judge Jeremy Carey said the sentence was a “constructive alternative” to a prison sentence as McLennan had already served a minimum of nine months in 2009 for “strikingly similar sexual offences” and could therefore only sentence him to a few more months in prison.

He told McLennan: “You have been punished as a sex offender. You have not committed further sexual offences for many years and I accept you have been leading a non-criminal life of a positive kind.”

Bramwell Walls admits sexual activity with a child who later died following suspected suicide attempt

A MAN has admitted three sex charges involving a girl aged 14 who died after being found hanged.

Georgia Hedges was taken to hospital after an incident at her home in Witham, Essex, but died two days later.

Bramwell Walls, 38, of Folkestone Road,Walthamstow , admitted two charges of sexual activity with the teenager and a third charge of inciting her to engage in sexual activity.

The public gallery in court number two at Chelmsford Crown Court was full as Wells, wearing a white t-shirt, sat before a camera in the video suite in Chelmsford prison during the eight-minute hearing on Monday.

Judge Christopher Ball QC told Walls he wanted the probation service to prepare a report on him before he is sentenced on Friday, September 13.

Walls was remanded in custody. There was no application for bail.

The court heard Walls engage in sexual activity with Georgia between January last year and May this year.

Walls incited the teenager to engage in sexual activity between April and May this year.

Police and medics were called to Georgia’s home in Osbert Road, Witham, on May 14 this year after she had tried to take her own life.

Georgia, a pupil at Maltings Academy in Witham, was taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford before being transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

A post-mortem examination revealed a provisional cause of death as compression of the neck.

An inquest into Georgia’s death has been opened and adjourned.

Stephen Read Paedophile Businessman guilty of sexually abusing young boys

Wealthy businessman Stephen Read, 58, is facing jail after being convicted of sex offences against four boys.

The founder and managing director of multi-million pound Enviro Technology Services, was found guilty today of five charges after a nine day trial at Gloucester crown court.

Two of the guilty verdicts were on charges of indecent/sexual assault and the other three were for causing the boys to view pornography

Judge Jamie Tabor QC bailed Read, of Bussage, near Stroud until August 29.

The judge said he would grant Read bail as long as he lives outside the county pending sentence. This would allow him time to put affairs in order and ensure his business can run ‘in his absence,’ said the judge.

He added that it was also important Read is away from his home area because of ‘bad feeling’ there.

“I am well aware that this case has caused a great deal of bad feeling not only in the family but in the surrounding area and for his own sake I don’t particularly want him to go home because he has enough problems on his plate as it is,” the judge told defence barrister Jane Rowley.

“He knows what the almost inevitable outcome of the jury’s verdict is.”

The charges related to incidents between 1997 and May last year when the boys were visiting his home or going on swimming, shooting and boating trips with him.

Prosecutor Anne Vigars told the jury of seven men and five women at the start of the trial that Read “has over the last 15 years or so taken advantage of young boys under the disguise of being a kind and generous man.”

She said the offences came to light when a woman driving four 12-year-old boys in her car heard two of them talking about Mr Read being a ‘paedo.’

She asked the boys to speak to their parents about what they were saying and in due course their allegations against Read came to light.

Following local rumour in the area the other two victims also came forward.

Read denied two charges of indecently assaulting a boy between July 1997 and June 1999. He was convicted of one by an 11-1 majority but cleared of the other.

He also denied five charges of sexual assault of a second 12 year old boy between January and May 2012 and one of causing the same boy to view video of people engaged in sexual activity.

The jury found him guilty of two of those charges by majorities of 10-1 and 11-1 but not guilty of the other four allegatrions,

The third set of charges alleged four sexual assaults on another boy under-13 between April 2010 and April 2012 and one of causing that child to view similar pornography. The jury convicted him only of the pornography charge by an 11-1 majority.

The final two charges were of causing or inciting a fourth boy to engage in sexual activity and causing him to view pornography. He was convicted by an 11-1 majority of the pornography charge but cleared of incitement.

Read had denied all the charges and maintained he never did or said anything indecent to the boys.

Nigel Bourne and Robert Bourne, a father and son who ran a business as children’s entertainers from Tardebigge have been warned they face jail after being found guilty of downloading child and extreme pornographic images.

A total of 280 images were found on the computers at the home of Nigel Bourne, aged 28, and his 52-year-old father Robert, who ran a company called Funbusters.

Police found scores of pictures on a Sony laptop and HP desktop computer featuring children as young as four and dozens of searches for “Lolita-type” websites dating from June, 2008. Other images featured animals.

Simon Phillips, prosecuting, told Worcester Crown Court police raided the home in Hewell Lane, Tardebigge, on October 6, 2011.

Nigel Bourne denied possessing 27 indecent images of children aged between four and 14, plus 24 images of extreme porn.

Robert, a former builder who launched Fun Busters almost 15 years ago, and was known as Big Bob or Fun Bob, denied possessing 198 indecent images of children aged between six and 14, along with 31 extreme pornographic images.

A jury unanimously found Nigel not guilty of two charges of making or downloading indecent images of children but guilty of three other similar charges and two of making images of extreme porn.

His father was found guilty unanimously of three charges of downloading child abuse images and two of extreme porn.

Judge Richard Rundell ordered them both to sign the sex offenders register immediately. Pre sentence reports were ordered and they are due back in court for sentencing on August 30. They were granted bail but the judge warned them they should both prepare to go to jail.

Adam Western, defending Nigel, who got married last year, said he had put up a defence on behalf of his father in court. Apart from their father and son relationship, Mr Western said, he had not worked for anyone else since the age of ten. It was a remote chance, Mr Western said, that two people with the same “deviant, criminal interest” would live in the same house.

Andrew Davidson, for Robert Bourne, said he had a “mental breakdown” in 2008 which resulted in him dousing himself in petrol and setting himself alight. He went to prison and his house had been a “drop-in centre for cons and ex-cons” following that time. Others could have accessed the computers and downloaded the porn.

John Williams A MAN who exposed himself and indulged in an indecent act in front of a little girl walks free from court

John Kevin Williams, a Penycae sex offence man tried to take his own life

A MAN who had never been in any trouble before inexplicably exposed himself and indulged in an indecent act in front of a little girl.

When the girl told her parents what had happened, John Kevin Williams, 58, was confronted by them.

He admitted what he had done and then made a serious attempt to take his own life, a court was told.

John Williams, of Hall Street, Penycae, near Wrexham, pleaded guilty to indulging in an indecent act in front of the child.

Judge Niclas Parry, sitting at Mold Crown Court, sent him on a community sex offender programme.

“This was quite inexplicable behaviour,” he said.

There was a great disparity in age.

“This is all about you putting your own sexual gratification above the welfare of a young child,” the judge said.

He had no previous convictions of a sexual nature, had pleaded guilty immediately and had admitted what he had done to the girl’s family when challenged.

Williams was contrite and clearly remorseful. The incident was short lived and he did not touch her.

There were no threats or coercion and he had displayed proper victim empathy.

Judge Parry said in the circumstances it was entirely appropriate he would protect the public and young girls in particular by passing a three year community order with supervision, under which Williams would attend a community group work sexual offenders’ programme.

He also made an order the defendant must not stay in a house even for one night where there was a child under the age of 16.

Williams was also placed on the sexual offenders’ register for the next five years.

Sion ap Mihangel, prosecuting, said the incident in June occurred when the defendant opened his trousers, exposed himself and indulged in an indecent act in the presence of the girl.

She later told her parents what he had done, and when confronted he admitted it.

The matter was reported to the police but before he could be arrested Williams made a concerted attempt to take his own life.

He was arrested in hospital on July 1 and when interviewed made full admissions.

Williams had been remanded in custody by magistrates who had been concerned for his welfare.

Stephen Edwards, defending, said: “He has lost everything, his home, his employment and his reputation. This is a man who is entirely broken.

“This moment of madness has already changed his life forever. He has paid a very heavy price for his actions.”

Graham Stinton A FATHER found with 3,000 indecent images level 4 & 5 walks free from court

Graham Andrew Stinton from Ellesmere Port downloaded child sex images

A FATHER posed as a teenage girl on Facebook and downloaded more than 3,000 indecent images of children, a court heard.

Graham Andrew Stinton, 50, created an online alter-ego for himself and pretended to be 14-year-old Hanna Simpson.

Chester Crown Court heard he struck up conversations with other men who shared his sexual interests including some who were also pretending to be teenage girls.

Father-of-two Stinton was caught out when an email address he created as ‘Hanna’ was found to be uploading indecent images onto social networks.

Gordon Hennell, prosecuting, told the court an American-based centre informed the police and the email account was traced to Stinton’s then home address.

Police went to the house in November, 2011 but Stinton was not at home and his wife and children were unaware of the email address.

Mr Hennell said Stinton, now of Willow Grove, Ellesmere Port, then arrived and officers asked him about the email address.

“He initially denied it but very soon after admitted it,” said Mr Hennell.

“It is right to say that from the very outset he admitted everything.”

Police seized computer equipment from the family home and discovered 3,244 images and 228 videos of girls aged between three and 13-years-old.

Nine further obscene images were found on a mobile phone belonging to Stinton, who admitted 17 counts of possessing indecent images and videos of children between June, 2010 and November, 2011.

Mr Hennell told the court some of the images were level four and five – the most extreme – and showed sexual activity between young girls and men.

“He admitted making up the relevant email addresses and using them to upload images onto Tagged and Facebook,” he said.

“It appears lots of men interested in this did exactly the same thing.”

Stinton told police he had downloaded the images to make the Hanna profile “more interesting” to other Facebook users.

Mr Hennell said: “There was evidence from Facebook he had initiated conversations with other users.”

But he added there was no evidence Stinton had ever tried to communicate with any children.

Andrew Thomas, defending, told the court Stinton’s relationship with his wife and children had collapsed once his offences came to light.

“Mr Stinton has demonstrated genuine guilt, shame and disgust at what he has done,” said Mr Thomas.

He said Stinton had been voluntarily attending sex offenders’ sessions with child protection charity the Lucy Faithfull Foundation.

Judge Roger Dutton said the seriousness of the offence meant Stinton was facing prison but he had decided to suspend his sentence.

Judge Dutton said the fact Stinton came clean straight away and had been attending sessions with the Lucy Faithfull Foundation counted in his favour.

He said an immediate prison sentence would mean he would not get help to prevent him reoffending.

Stinton was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years, and told he would have to sign the sex offenders’ register for the next 10 years.

He was also made the subject of a two-year supervision order requiring him to complete the Northumbria Sex Offender Groupwork Programme and an indefinite sexual offences prevention order banning him from accessing pornography and imposing stringent conditions on his future internet use.

The judge warned Stinton he would be sent straight to jail if he commits any offences in the next two years or fails to comply with the court orders.
